BEAP is hiring a Summer student




Our Mandate


Building Equality in Architecture: Prairies (BEAP) is an initiative that promotes equity and diversity in the city-building professions. 


Our organization aims to support, celebrate, and connect practitioners working in architecture, landscape architecture, planning, construction, engineering, and interior design across the prairies. 


BEAP is looking for a student currently studying in one of the six city building professions to fill a part-time summer role in our organization, related to our upcoming BEAP “Doors Open” event, to be held Oct 3-4, 2024, and associated research.


About the Position


  • Term: Must be based in Winnipeg between May-October.

  • Honorarium: $2000.

  • Location: Work from Home.

  • Reporting to the BEAP Executive.


Expected Outcomes


BEAP "Doors Open" Event Planning:

  • Prepare and issue a call to all firms in Winnipeg, MB across all 6 city building professions.

  • Coordinate with and provide event information to interested firms and support them in their participation.

  • Prepare a BEAP web page dedicated to the event.

  • Design a programming map of all office participants in digital and print format. 

  • Design, coordinate, and print poster boards showcasing work for each of the participating offices. 

  • Design and print event media, such as: posters/postcards for advertisement, poster boards for offices, programs for attendees, BEAP banners with sponsorship recognition, wayfinding as well as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) statistics/ information.

  • Coordinate all logistics for the event, including accessible access and facilities at all participating venues.

  • Promote the event across social media platforms.


DEI Research:

  • Help to develop and distribute an online DEI Survey.

  • Provide recommendations and assist in writing a DEI Report.

  • Create DEI infographics based on data collected.


Qualifications


  • Student from the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Manitoba.

  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and Illustrator, ideally in the creation of mapping and infographics.

  • Experience with website management (WIX).

  • Experience in performing research, including data collection (surveys), organizing, analyzing, and synthesizing data into digestible outcomes.

  • Strong report writing skills.

  • Experience with producing content and postings for social media.

  • Event planning experience, coordinating logistics and communication through email, calls, and in-person with firms, print shops, etc.
